Murder Mystery Novel "Red 1-2-3" is a Hit.
Murder accompanied by the emotions of suspense, fear and wisdom pleasantly fester in the realms of the brains active tracks, in the book "Red 1-2-3."
The January hardcover spawning of "Red 1-2-3" immediately grips the entertainment palate of ones curiosity and sends it into a journey of efficacious desires. Thirteen time best selling author, including the New York Times, Katzenbach hits paydirt with his latest book "Red 1-2-3."
The word paydirt ultimately is defined as awesome, or at least very good. Paydirt is an old school football term used for positive results for both the offenses and defense. On offense, scoring a touchdown is the ultimate paydirt area. Football players on the defensive side of the ball may score a TD via a fumble recovery or an interception return; paydirt!
The book is a tale of a serial killer who happens to be a successfully mystery crime novelist who uses details of his heinous crimes to write his lucrative books.
What kept this book from or 4 or 4.5 star rating out of five stars for me was the drawn out parts here and there and the lame name for the killer; Mr. Big Bad Wolf.
Without revealing the complete story, the Big Bad Wolf has successfully killed four red headed women prior to stocking his next three red headed women. The Big Bad Wolf solely targets red headed women of all ages and sends them each a personally hand written letter that he is going to kill them at an unknown time and location.
He observes his victims for a long period of time before making his move to murder. In "Red 1-2-3" the Big Bad Wolf targets Dr. Karen Jayson, Sarah Locksley and Jordan. Red three, Jordan sagaciously studies the letters and YouTube videos the Big Bad Wolf sends her and figures out she's not the only one targeted. She eventually teams up with Jayson and Locksley to attempt to thwart the Big Bad Wolfs plans. It's really cool when Jordan purchases a top of the line fillet fishing knife. As she slices tissue paper with the razor sharp knife, intriguing thoughts of killing harbor in her thoughts.
When all three women team up against there advertising killer, intense justification whether to kill or not arise for all parties involved. The ending refreshingly caught me off guard.
Aside from the slow parts in the middle and its pathetic villain name, "Red 1-2-3" is a worthy 3.5 star read.
