Delving Into Decades of Movies, A Few Recommendations From the 1920s-2002

In 1917 America entered World War I and for several years, Hollywood had already solidified itself as the entertainment capital of the world.

Mary Pickford, aka 'America's Sweetheart was the female icon of that era while Charlie Chaplin was the male entertainment icon. Both Pickford and Chaplin were also writers as well as established screen actors. With the advent of sound; dialogue in the movies, their fame withered away for what ever powers that be. Although silent movies existed in the 40S, by 1930, it was clear, sound on motion was the best combination.

From about 1910-1929 Two Reelers were the equivalent of today's sitcoms. Before the age of digital, movies were massed produced on mostly 35 mm film. One reel lasts about ten minutes. Many silent films, particularly comedies were about 20-22 minutes long, hence the term 'Two Reelers.' So begins my review of one movie from the decade of the roaring 20s, the  1930s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and one from the 21st century.

Laurel and Hardy's Two Reeler  "Two Tars," released in 1928 is a must see comedy classic. Laurel and Hardy were comic genius and ruled the comedy screen in the 1920s and 30s in my mind, while others may argue it was perhaps Pickford, Chaplin, Buster Keaton, W.C. Fields or the beautiful Thelma Todd.

Regardless of the augments and discussions of opinions, "Two Tars" is still hilarious today, even though it's a silent film. Watching Laurel and Hardy, who always used their real names in the more than 100 films they made together had flawless and timeless humor. In "Two Tars" the two portray sailors on a furlough. While they are driving in town in their rented Model T,  they meet two pretty women and watching them flirt with these women is a laugh riot. I laugh just as loud and longer every time I watch the duo flirting with the women. As my dad said;

"It's so ridiculous, and only these two can get away with it."

Stan (Laurel) and Oliver (Hardy) take the girls for a drive and there is a huge traffic jam on the free way because of construction. Timeless tales. The cars are literally stopped on the free way and the drivers begin arguing with each other. A comic, and very good humored look at 'road rage' starts. Each driver, including Laurel and Hardy begin vandalizing each others vehicles into  shambles. No words can describe this 20 or so minute comedy, but I'd recommend this flick to anyone.

For the 1930s I'm going with another Laurel and Hardy Two Reeler. In this 1932 full on sound film, "Helpmates," Oliver Hardy's house is completely trashed after a raucous party he threw while his wife was out of town, 'timeless humor'. While extremely hung-over, in the wee hours of the morning, he gets notification that his wife is coming home that very same day. Of course it's a surprise early coming back home. Oliver calls upon his pal Stan to help clean up the house. Again, no words can describe how funny this flick is, but it's too funny watching Oliver picking up handfuls of empty booze bottles for the trash pick-up.

Whatever comedy sitcom(s) harbor in your favorites, I'd pit "Helpmates" with any episode of my particular favorites from "Sanford and Son," to "Two and a half Men" episodes. "Helpmates" indeed has withstood the ultimate test, the one of time itself.

For the 1940s, I'm recommending the 1941 feature length film "The Maltese Falcon" starring Humphrey Bogart. In this drama, detective motion picture, Bogart is private eye, Sam Spade. When his partner Miles Archer is killed, it becomes Spade's quest to find Archer's killer. While on this journey,  he encounters the shady folks Joel Cairo (Peter Lorre) and Kasper Gutman (Sydney Greenstreet).

Gutman and Cairo hire Spade to help find the coveted Maltese Falcon which is a known treasure since 1539. The Falcon is claimed to have been encrusted with the rarest of jewels from beak to  claw, seized by pirates hundreds of years ago from Charles the V of Spain, and its where a bouts currently unknown. The Falcon is worth millions, which translates into billions in our current modern times.

People are murdered in the quest for the Falcon and Spade is a major suspect and needs a fall guy for the police. Greenstreet delivers a classic line in movie history as far as I'm concerned. Before I quote that line, a quick explanation is in order. The fall guy is one of Greenstreets henchmen who's  practically a son to him.

"One can always get another son, but there is only one Maltese Falcon," Greenstreet said in his boisterous classic accent.

For the 1950s I'm going with the 1957 war movie, "The Bridge on The River Kwai." Derived from Pierre Boullle's novel, screen writers Carl Foreman and Michael Wilson formed a marvelous true story into a Hollywood gem.

This is a tale of British  Prisoners of war in a Japanese concentration camp during World War II. The prisoners commander, brilliantly portrayed by Alec Guinness, aka Obi Wan Kenobi is possessed by British pride to lead the construction in a railroad bridge which would aide the Japaneses in getting more troops and combat supplies faster to their troops. The other British prisoners are not sharing the same pride as their commander, nor do they want any part in aiding the enemy in combat. Indeed and excellent conflict for a movie and the character development is awesome while the conclusion fits the flick.

The year I was born was when the Beatles came to America and the civil rights act was passed. 1964's "A Shot in The Dark" was a hit comedy that has stood the test of time. If you like the original Pink Panther movies written by Blake Edwards and starring Peter Sellers, "A Shot in The Dark" is a must see comedy.

In this color classic, the beautiful blond, Elke Sommer plays Maria Gambrelli, a widow whose rich husband was murdered. She is the prime suspect in his death and along the way, others get killed, and again she is the targeted suspect. Inspector Jacques Clouseau (Sellers) is the only one convinced of her innocence. In his rumbling stumbling and bumbling comic way, Clouseau proves her innocence and finds the real criminals. "A Shot in The Dark is a farce that works well with the funny bone.

For the 70s, the hockey comedy "Slap Shot" is an adult comedy that is no good unless it's dirty. In other words, it's meant to be viewed in it's original uncut version, not meant for regular TV.

In "Slap Shot" Paul Newman plays and ageing hockey caption of his semi pro team the Charles town Chiefs. Much like the 90s "Major League", the owner of the Chiefs wants the team to fail, as it's more profitable for all business hands. The three men who play the Hanson Brothers are a key factor in making "Slap Shot" a comedy classic.

The movie deals with romance and lust in an intelligent and very funny manner. Even if you don't understand or like the sport of hockey and don't mind the F-word, some female nudity and comic violence, this movie is right up your alley of laughter.

"The Hidden," a science fiction drama / comedy released in 1987. "The Hidden" is about unseen aliens, both good and evil that harbor in human bodies. Both the good and naughty aliens have a thirst for sleek and fast cars. The evil alien however has no regard for human innocence, the well being of the young or old, much like the world leaders of yesteryear, today and forever. The evil alien only seems to care about loud heavy rock music and fast cars, and has no conscience when it comes to killing someone over money or music.

"The Hidden" is a bizarre blitzkrieg into the realms of weirdness, but despite all the questions the first time viewer has while watching, all the answers are fulfilled in a smart and interesting manner.

My 90s must see is "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels." Written and directed by Guy Ritchie, it's clear why he received the MTV Movie Awards best new film maker award.This off the wall film that inspired Ritchie's latter  movie "Snatch" with Brad Pitt. "Snatch" is great, but "Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" is way better.

My brother Eddie once said to me, just because you think it's better, it is for everyone else? At the time he was talking to me, he was referring to many of my various 'opinion' blogs I propel upon the Internet. I seriously thought about what he was saying to me, and after serious thought to what he was asking me and what other people's opinions might be, I replied 'yes' to his question.

"If I think something sucks or is fantastic, or anywhere in between, I'm 100 percent right all the time," I said.

"Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" in a nutshell is a tale of four men who devise a way to steal a massive amount of cash from some harden criminals. Their plan is clever and if it fails they risk being tortured to death by hard core thieves or going to federal pound me in the butt prison. This is a movie that has to be viewed from start to finish with no interruption or intrical parts of the plot will be lost. The end leaves the viewer with an interesting 'what if' thought for the mind.

If your still reading, wow, I'm flattered, and thank you. Regardless, I'm only reviewing one more movie for this way too wordy blog. "Chicago" released in 2002 is a musical that has been done several times by the movie industry since the 1920s or 30s. The 2002 version with Renee Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Queen Latifah and Richard Gere is truly awesome. I say this because I hate musicals, but I love this movie.

"Chicago" really deserves credit to the many writers of this Hollywood extravaganza. Bill Condon wrote the 2002 screenplay, but his phenomenal feats were because of Bob Fosse and Fred Ebb who wrote the book of this musical probably before Condon was even born. The 2002 version of "Chicago" is also derived from a stage play written by Maurie Dallas Watkins whose writing genius should not go unnoticed.

"Chicago" is about women on death row for killing their beaus. Roxy Hart (Renee Zellweger) is one of these women who also has dreams of becoming an iconic singer on the big stage. Catherine Zeta-Jones is Hart's idol. Velma Kelly (Zeta-Jones) is an established singer and is the first to get arrested for killing her man. Richard Gere is the shady high priced lawyer Billy Flynn who for the right price can get any women acquitted from murder.

Queen Latifah is the prison guard who can help with acquiring Billy Flynn as Harts defense lawyer and also a very talented singer. For the most part, the best picture of the year award is wrong, but the Academy Awards got it right for "Chicago." This movie is a very funny and a tastefully twisted look at women getting the ultimate revenge on cheating boyfriends or husbands. The musical performances are a fantastic journey into 20s and 30s music.

Demons; Devious, Dangerous, and Deliciously Delectable

Before I talk about the positives of the word 'demon,' the negatives will come first.

Myself, like too many Americans am a victim of U.S. education;  across the seas in other parts of the world, open minds are more apt to flourish via their teachings in schools.

The Hindu goddess Varahi, one of six or 16, Matrkas; dangerous or a huge part in keeping us alive?

Growing up in the U.S., it's assumed the word demon is always bad, an evil spirit, an unseen predator dwelling in anticipation of causing innocent blood flow. Demonic forces embedding themselves in the heart of political leaders who send other peoples children to die in wars. Demons which fuel the minds of nuclear weapons builders and laughed as napalm burned the skin of small children in Vietnam. Dangerous demons were delighted when the U.S. military obliterated more than a 200,000 civilians, including women and children in a three day span in August, 1945. Evil spirits harboring in the minds of too many young soldiers in every part of the world who frequently pillage third world towns, rape the young pretty girls, then kill them as easily as I'd kill a fly. Currently a small percent of U.S. soldiers are raping young middle eastern girls than killing them and their family's. (http://thinkprogress.org/world/2015/03/26/3639634/congo-rape/ )

Not all demons are bad as the Bible for instance dictates. 'Demon' is derived from the Greek word, daimon, which means genius or deity. Deity as defined in the required "Oxford Dictionary" for today's college English classes is a god or goddess, divine status. Being a genius would translate into having vast knowledge, hence in the European education system, their students learn that the word demon is also a word for knowledge.

Delectable demons are the ones who harbor in the laughing souls of those whose thirst for knowledge is never satisfied. These demons don't drink from the governments goblet of greed, nor feed into their lies of justifying countless wars. Wars that send over priced drones via middle class tax dollars to bomb some militants and countless poor women and children to their deaths or major limb removal. Delightful demons fuel the imagination of children and show them countless mental paths in life that are most beneficial to the ways they think and feel. Delicious demons detest the one sided education methods designed for the masses and not the individuals. These demons embrace creativity and dispense imagination...

Gay; An Awesome Article Written by McKoye Mecham

In the years 2010 and 2011 when I was an old student at Dixie State College, now DSU, I was writing for the Dixie Sun. 

The Suns most awesome Life Styles Editing Chief at the time, McKoye Mecham wrote the following article on her blog site on January 13, 2014. I so miss those Sunday summer nights In St. George Utah when her, myself and many other Dixie Sun writers and photographers gathered together to play volley ball weekly all summer long, those were indeed good times. 

Because of the recent horrific hate crime and mass murder in Orlando Florida on the 12th, I feel the article "Gay," by Mecham illustrates how unwarranted hatred is extremely bad for everyone involved.  

Did you know the word "gay" means carefree and/or happy? Does it still have that meaning? I'm not so sure.

I'm a Mormon and I support same-sex marriage being legalized in every single state in the U.S.

GASP! I can hear it now.

"Wow, that McKoye is turning into a liberal! She's leaving the church! She actually LIKES gay people! Doesn't she know they are full of evil and they think LDS people are the worst? Doesn't she know she's being a bad Mormon? She's giving in to the world!"

Oh dear. How could I sink so low?

I apologize for the sarcasm.

Let me make this VERY clear. I love my faith and I love my country. I love that we live in place where we can pretty much do whatever we want. I do, however, hate how we fight so fiercely against people who don't believe in our faith. Why not let them be? Let them have the rights they are given in the United States Constitution. Let them be happy. Let God be the judge when the time comes. Why not focus our energy into helping others? Being kind? Being understanding? If someone is interested in our message, let's share it! But let's not force it.

Did you know that Utah leads the nation in suicides among men aged 15 to 24? (http://www.deseretnews.com/article/635201873/Deadly-taboo-Youth-suicide-an-epidemic-that-many-in-Utah-prefer-to-ignore.html?pg=all) I wonder how many of those young men would rather be dead than be alive and gay. That absolutely breaks my heart. Does that make you sad? I hope so.

The Church came out with this website (http://www.mormonsandgays.org/ ) acknowledging that people are born homosexual. I thought it was pretty cool to admit that. God made them that way, so I know he knows what he's dealing with. He can be the judge, not us.

And for those of you out there who are like, "I won't follow the world's trends! That's exactly what you're doing! You're a bad Mormon!!!!" Well, guess what? The church has followed world trends before. And by world trends, I mean giving in when things start to change. Do you remember black people were once discriminated against in the church?  But after the Civil Rights Movement, things changed. The Church came out with a statement (http://www.mormonnewsroom.org/article/race-church) recently admitting to a racist past. Church leaders also condemned marriage between people of different races. Guess what? That's OK now!

I believe it was President Dieter F. Uchtdorf who acknowledged that the church has made mistakes. (http://www.nytimes.com/2013/10/06/us/a-top-mormon-leader-acknowledges-the-church-made-mistakes.html?_r=1I) love him for that. No sugar coating, just pure honesty.

I believe being inquisitive, thoughtful, open minded and non-judgmental has made my faith grow stronger. I will raise my family to ask questions, to seek knowledge, to be kind to others and to listen carefully to our leaders.

I'm not saying the church should change their stance on marriage or the importance of families. I'm saying that they should stop fighting so hard against it and respect others who don't believe in the LDS faith by letting the laws of the land stand. Just because other people are gay doesn't make me want to be gay. It's fine. Let them be grown ups and make their own decisions.

I know you may think I'm a terrible person for posting such a post, but I felt inspired to defend my stance.

I love my LGBT friends and family. They deserve to be treated as equals.

Be gay. Be happy.

Insanity, Greed and Murder Mix Well Together in "Finders Keepers."

Stephen King continues to be the master of macabre novels with his June 2 release of "Finders Keepers," a suspenseful page turner that is hard to put down once the reading has commenced.

If you don't have hopes and ambitions as a teenager, your life will fester into one as a wage-slave, caught up in a below livable wage, and true happiness will be nothing but a fantastic dream. I rephrased the words of 13-year-old Pete Saubers, the focal character in "Finders Keepers."

Saubers is a bright kid with lofty goals and a sweet soul. His life is introduced to black-mail and murder before he is old enough to legally drive a vehicle. "Finders Keepers" goes back and fourth from the years 1978 to 2014. In 1978, the highly disturbed Morris Bellamy kills writer John Rothstein in cold blood and steals Rothstein's cash and 18 years of his unpublished writings.  It is on par with possessing the only copies of unpublished works by Anne Rice, John Grisham or King.

Bellamy buries the cash and notebooks in his back yard and in 1979 is put in jail for aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and the aggravated rape of Miss Cora Ann Hooper. He spends more than 30 years in prison for this crime, and no one knows he killed and robbed Rothstein.

While in prison he gets raped in the mouth and butt as King so eloquently states it, and Tom and Linda Saubers move into Bellamy's house with their two children Pete and Tina.  Pete finds the large stash of cash and notebooks and like any 13-year-old boy, gives all the cash to his struggling parents in monthly payments because of his mom and dads finical woes.

Pete is a huge fan of literature, so he keeps the notes books a secret and reads them. He also knows they are a lot more valuable than all the cash he has found. By the time he is 15-years-old, Bellamy is out of prison and has already slain one of his quote unquote old pals with an ax.

Bellamy elusively gets Pete alone in the back room of a book store, where his once friend has an ax buried in his face. Pete looks upon the hacked up corpses in terror as Bellamy calmly says to him;

"He pissed me off, you don't want to piss me off, do you?"

Bellamy had an insane vendetta against the writer Rothstein, and now has one against Pete. The book gets intense when Bellamy is alone with Pete's mom and her 9-year-old daughter Tina. You want more details? Read the book.

Easily a four star rated book. "Finders Keepers" has all the elements for a great story, characters you love and loath, conflicts and at the end of the story there are no loose ends.  

Great Players Get Stats, Great Teams Win Championships

Great players get stats, great teams win championships.

Late in the 4th quarter J.R. Smith tried to get the Cavs to game seven, making it a four point game with less than 30 seconds to play due to his 3-pointers made, but when your sending Stephen Curry to the line in the closing seconds, your team is in trouble. Curry sank three of his last four free throws and the Warriors ended up with a 105-97 win. 

Cleveland had eight turn-overs in the first period,  and the Warriors got 19 points off those for a 23-15 lead first quarter lead.  

The Warriors won the first quarter, and the Cavs got the 2nd one. The Cavaliers ended the half with an 8-0 run and Andre Iguodala and Klay Thompson each had three fouls as the Warriors clung to a 45-43 half time lead. 

Cleveland made it tough, Timofey Mozgov had four blocked shots, including at least one against Curry and one rebound shy of ten. Cleveland's Tristan Thompson also kept Cleveland in the game scoring some big points. 

The Warriors dominate the 3rd quarter and begin the 4th with a 73-61 lead. 

The finals MVP Iguodala, did his part with 16 or 18 points when the Warriors went on a 16-4 run with under 5:30 in the 3rd period for a 61-51 lead. Golden State's bit player Festus Ezeli  had 10 points in 11 minutes of play and Green had himself a triple double.

The Golden State Warriors became the third team in NBA History to total 82 or More Wins in Single Season. Rookie coach Steve Kerr is the first to win an NBA championship since Pat Riley did it in the 1982-83' season. Not since the Chicago Bulls of the mid 90s has an NBA been so good. The Warriors had the best record in this years NBA season with 67 wins. They continued their dominance in the post season amassing a 16-5 record en route to the franchise first championship since 1975.

Since losing game three of the series, their second loss in as many games, the Warriors whipped up a three game winning streak to close out the Cavaliers. 

Game 5

For second time in as many games, the Warriors were double-digit winners, but the game was a real nail biter up until the last two minutes. 

It's a team sport to win. Remember in game one, James had 44 points and his team lost. Warriors won a game this series when Curry had 22 points. 

Game five in the Oracle Arena was fantastic TV. As a Warrior fan, it was a nerve racking game, but for any NBA fan, especially those who are not fans of the Cavaliers or Warriors, this was a great show-down between two power house teams.

Klay Thompson still did next to nothing in these finals, but it's a classic example of team-ball and clutch defense. Late in the last quarter of play, the Warriors stole the ball more than once and then ran down court for some late scores, including phenomenal 3-point shots made by Curry. Dellavendova defended great, but Curry displayed why he is the MVP this year, netting the tough shots.

LeBron James was spectacular, amassing more than 40 points and he finished with a triple double, but in the end it was the team play of the Warriors that did in the Cavs. Mid way into the fourth quarter, game five was up for grabs. There was more than 15 lead changes in this game and the score was tied at least 10 times. 

Timofey Mozgov was on the bench for I'd say 90 percent of this game which was confusing for me, because in game four he had a career best 28 points and dominated in the paint. I'm also confused about the NBA announcers talking about the fatigue factor for the Cavaliers. They don't have enough dept in the bench department perhaps to get James his needed rest, boo-woo. 

Fatigue is why the Cavaliers can't finish in the three games they lost? Give me break, all the rest in between games and the superstars are getting paid millions of dollars and even the bench warmers are getting hundreds of thousands of dollars per year to play a boys game. 

No excuses, play like a champion, and the Warriors are one victory away from becoming this years NBA champs and they have home court advantage again after Cleveland took that away from them in game two. 

Game Four

The Warriors for the first time all season long started Andre Iguodala and it paid off nicely, yet Cleveland Cavaliers coach David Blatt may have dropped the ball.

For the first time in his ten years in the NBA, Iguodala was a bench player for the Warriors this season. Iguodala had six point in the first, several 3-pointers in the final quarter, and shut down LeBron James very well. Iguodala has been the Warriors best player the first four games of the series Warrior coach Steve Kerr said.

Draymond Green finally showed up to the finals as well, defending nicely and getting 17 points. Harrison Barnes also had double figures in the scoring department making it at least three out of the five starters with 10 or more points, one guess who the other Warrior in double digits was, incidentally that Warrior had more than 20 points. Iguodala also had more than 20 points.  

Kerr's adjustments for tonight's game paid off brilliantly as the Warriors opened up a can of whoop gluteus max on the road with a 103-82 victory. They go to game five at home on Sunday night in the Oracle arena. 

Did the Cavaliers coach David Blatt miss run his team tonight, or was it fatigue that took away much of LeBron James and Matthew Dellavedova play tonight? After game three Dellavedova was hospitalized for cramping and James did look lackadaisical in tonight's game.

During Blatt's post game interview, he did state that fatigue may have been an issue for James, but why? All the rest in-between games these days just don't seem to be excusable. Personally if I was star player, especially after two days rest between games, fatigue would be a zero percent issue in my potential sub-par performance, especially when my team is at home and could have put a choke hold on the Warriors, had they won tonight.

Dellavedova did next to nothing on defense in tonight's game, and James lacked any sort of intensity. The Warriors would have won by about 40 points had it not been for Timofey Mozgov stellar play getting points in the paint and getting to the line.  

Cleveland continued to get offensive rebounds, but lucky for the Warriors, the Cavs did not score much on second shot points which they did in the first three games. As I said in my last article, toss a coin as to who wins game seven. 

Defense Wins Championships

The Cleveland Cavaliers are dominating the Warriors on the offensive glass and Matthew  Dellavedova  and his marvelously coached crew have completely shut down the leagues MVP Stephen Curry.

As I watch the Cavaliers offensive flurry currently in the third quarter of tonight's game, it's clear the Cavs will win the series in five games. Their defense has Curry at a whopping five points with less than three minutes remaining in the 3rd, now it's a 17 point lead as Curry has made a 3-pointer giving him eight points toward the close of the 3rd period.

The commercial break has started for the 4th, and the Warriors are getting waxed 72-55 and for the second straight game against the tenacious defense of Cleveland, the Warriors have failed to score 60 or more points by the end of the 3rd. First time in 100 games the Warriors have had less than 60 points entering the 4th quarter.

Cleveland has Golden State hanging their heads, it's over. Despite the Warriors current 5-0 run to begin the 4th it's still a 12 point deficit. Andre Iguodala just made a 3-pointer to make it a nine point game with 9:52. Hmm, the first two games of this series did go into over-time and the Warriors furious come back in game two fell short, but game two also looked like a Cleveland blow-out in regulation.

Klay Thompson I feel is still over rated, he's only had three maybe four good games in the playoffs thus far as the Warriors are 13-4 in this illustrious final run. For any team to capture an NBA title, both teams bench players need to step up as well as have production from their star players. Harrison Barnes also needs to get going!

Eight point game now, I should stop writing and watch the game more intently. The Brazilian blur, Leandro Barbosa just made it a six point game.

The Warriors need to halt the Cavs offensive rebounds and somehow get Curry going. LeBron James will always do his thang. Remember the King had 44 points in Cleveland's game one loss. 77-74 now after a Curry three! Over seven minutes now.

If J.R. Smith can be stopped from making down town shots as well as Dellavendova, and Thompson steps up to the plate, the Warriors have a shot at victory in Cleveland to regain home-court advantage.
Both teams are playing solid D as they did in game two, the Cavs are just better at 'D' right now. Nice, Curry with a reverse layup for a three point game after being down by 20 points!

Barely over five minutes remaining and it's still a three point game, J. R. Smith missed a three and look out, ally-oop, Dellavedova with a  sweet pass to James, and it's  81-76 Cleveland. Oh, James has a hurt foot, but he'll be fine.

The announcers and refs are not so good, bad calls against both teams and Van Gundy and company say Curry struggled in game two and was struggling the first three quarters, but it's  Cleveland's 'D' shutting down Curry, give  credit were it's due.

Curry makes it a one point game with another three pointer. Dellavedova gets fouled on a made three, wow, maybe a four point play and he completes it, he has 18 points now. Dellavedova could be the dagger in the heart of the Warriors, he's a savage player.

Under two minutes remaining and James nails a three pointer giving Cleveland an 87-80 lead with 1:44 left in regulation.

That's another thing, Draymond Green needs to stop taking long shots and 3,'s he's a defense player, he just missed another long shot, oh wow a five point game after Curry makes another three, 88-83 Cavs lead with under a minuter remaining.

Cavaliers in six games I predict now, they just have a better defense and just know how to get it done. Curry makes another three, too little too late. Still down by four and all Cleveland has to do is make their free throws.

This game is over, the king just got a steal and the Cavs are running away with the game now. The lead will be nine when James makes his free throw and he did. It's a seven point Cav lead and so it goes, a 2-1 series lead for the Cavs and home court advantage now.

Hmm, 18.8 seconds left after Curry nails another three in this quarter, a three point game now, but it's still too late unless the Cavs miss their free throws. Nice, after being down by 20 in the 3rd, the Warriors didn't go down without a fight.

It's official, Cavs win tonight 96-91. Great reality TV, I'm stoked for Thursday's nights game which will also be in Cleveland. ( 6 p.m. on West Coast) Thursday night is a must win for the Warriors, make no mistake about that, win for a 2-2 series tie, or be down 3-1. Changing my mind again, toss a coin as to which teams wins game seven.

Steve Kerr, the head coach of the Golden State Warriors has home court advantage against the Cleveland Cavaliers leader David Blatt.

The stage is set for what should be a fantastic best of seven game series against the last two basketball teams standing.

The opening round of the finals had a classy start as 10-year-old Nayah Damasen wonderfully sang the national anthem. She has been singing for the Warriors since she was 8-years-old. Warriors pulverized the Cavaliers in the Overtime period, but the first four quarters was wire to wire round balling.

   

The Warriors come into the series with the leagues MVP in Stephen Curry and Blatt has arguably the best player in the entire game in LeBron James. James like Curry can bring 'it' in all aspects of the game. James, unlike anyone else it seems has the ability to make his four counterparts on the court play above themselves, just like Michael Jordan used to do in the 90s NBA. Without James the Cavaliers are a first round playoff exist at best, and the same could be said about Warriors.

Aside from which team you were cheering for, whether they won or lost, did game one live up to the hype? Upon recap, yes. After four quarters of regulation play the score was knotted at 98. In the first quarter alone there was nine lead changes and the score was tied three times.

The Cavaliers offensive prowess on getting rebounds was the key to their 20-9 run to end the first quarter for a 29-19 lead to start the second period. In the second quarter, the Warriors had a 29-12 run and finished plus 2 in the rebounding aspect as opposed to finishing -8 on the boards after the first 12 minutes of play.

Notables in the 2nd period of play was Curry nailing a 3-pointer to tie the game at 36 with 4:25  to play in the half. The Warrior bench players were also stellar, scoring 18 points by half time. J. R. Smith was the only bench player to score for the Cavs by half time, (entire game) but his three 3-pointers, including the quarters final basket were daggers, giving the Cavs a 51-48 half time lead.  

In the 3rd period, both teams traded baskets, but it was the the final seconds in the quarter that ignited the excitement. Andre Iguodala stole the ball from King James and sprinted to the hole for a sweet layup to knot the game at 73 to start the last quarter of regulation.

The Warrior bench outscored the Cavalier bench 39-9 tonight and with less then 31.9 seconds in the 4th, no team scored, and the stage was set for a 98-98 overtime showdown.

By the start of over time there was a total of 18 lead changes and 10 ties. The Warrior defense held the King and company to a mere two points in the extra period and waxed them 108-100 to win the first game of the series. Game two is also at the Orcale Arena on Sunday night; 5 p.m here on the west coast.
